Car introduction
New Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 2026 Precision Package was engineered and introduced as a direct competitor to ultra-high-performance sedans such as the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63. This manual-transmission model is designed for performance-focused drivers seeking maximum mechanical engagement, high output, and an authentic driving experience at a time when high-performance sedans are gradually disappearing. The vehicle is powered by a hand-assembled supercharged 6.2L V8 engine with an Eaton supercharger. This power unit delivers a maximum output of 668 HP and 893 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of approximately 322 km/h. The engine features an optimized cooling system, active intake air temperature management, and high-pressure fuel injection, contributing to long-term performance stability even under extreme track conditions.
As standard, the vehicle is equipped with a six-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual transmission with a dual-disc dry clutch, technically optimized for high load capacity and precise gear engagement. The transmission includes dedicated performance functions: Active Rev Match – automatically synchronizes engine speed during downshifts (rev-matching) for smooth gear changes and minimized driveline shock; No Lift Shift – enables gear changes without lifting off the accelerator pedal. The drivetrain utilizes an RWD configuration, transmitting power exclusively to the rear axle, allowing precise traction modulation, improved weight distribution, and a distinctly sporty handling character. A sport electronic limited-slip rear differential actively distributes torque between the rear wheels to maximize traction and cornering stability. This differential is equipped with a dedicated cooler, maintaining optimal operating temperatures under high loads and extending performance consistency during spirited driving. The chassis is engineered as a high-performance platform featuring fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension. The system monitors road surface conditions every millisecond and adjusts damping characteristics in real time (within up to 5 milliseconds).
The vehicle features Driver Mode Selector, allowing the driver to tailor the overall driving character according to preference or current conditions:
- Tour – a mode focused on smooth throttle response and comfort-oriented settings for daily operation.
- Sport – a balanced configuration with sharper engine response and firmer suspension for more dynamic road driving.
- Track – a mode optimized for circuit use with minimal stability system intervention, maximum engine responsiveness, and the firmest suspension calibration.
- Snow/Ice – provides maximum traction and heightened stability control sensitivity on slippery surfaces with reduced power output.
- V-Mode – a fully configurable mode enabling storage of preferred settings for engine, suspension, steering, exhaust, and traction systems.
The technology suite also includes the dedicated Performance Traction Management subsystem (exclusive to V-Series models), developed for track and performance driving. It focuses specifically on optimizing traction, stability, and acceleration in limit conditions. The system can be independently configured in four modes: Wet, Dry, Sport, including the raw track-focused Race setting. The system can also be completely deactivated. Braking performance is managed by the optional Brembo carbon-ceramic braking system (Precision Package), capable of operating at extreme temperatures exceeding 1000 °C without loss of efficiency. The brakes feature 398 mm front discs and 373 mm rear discs, with six-piston fixed Brembo front calipers and four-piston rear calipers.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing features a fully digital 33-inch instrument display with high resolution and integrated Google Built-In. The display layout automatically adapts to the selected driving mode and current driver requirements. It provides a wide range of information, from standard operational data to advanced performance and telemetry data. The instrument cluster is integrated with the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system, forming a cohesive interface. It offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Google navigation, online services, driving mode personalization, and access to Performance Traction Management settings. The system combines intuitive touchscreen operation with physical controls and voice commands. The infotainment system includes a Data Performance Recorder, enabling video recording of driving sessions along with telemetry data such as speed, throttle and brake position, g-forces, trajectory, and lap times, with data analysis available directly within the vehicle. During analysis, tools such as Speed Tips automatically identify the greatest opportunities for lap time improvement, alongside sector analysis and comparison with reference lap times.
The interior combines premium craftsmanship with distinctly performance-oriented ergonomics. High-performance seats feature black premium leather upholstery with pronounced lateral bolstering and stable body support. The seats are 12-way power adjustable with heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The driver benefits from memory settings. The multifunction Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel features a sporty diameter with a thick rim, electric heating, and direct access to V-Mode configuration. Ambient interior lighting allows up to 126 individual color combinations. The AKG premium audio system utilizes 16 speakers with an amplifier delivering detailed, spatial, and balanced sound optimized for the vehicle’s interior acoustics. The vehicle also offers numerous additional comfort and driver-assistance features such as a Head-Up Display, 360 HD camera, keyless entry and start, and a rear camera mirror display, among others. The Blackwing model appeals to customers who prioritize driving engagement, control, and the exclusivity of a classic V8 configuration paired with a manual transmission.
