In 1968, Chevrolet introduced an entirely new generation of the Corvette C3, inspired by the Mako Shark II concept. Sharp lines, a long hood, a dramatically sloped rear end, and an unmistakable silhouette made this one of the most iconic designs of the 1960s. Today, the first model year of the C3 is among the most sought-after collector pieces, as it represents the pure, original interpretation of the Shark Era.
5.7 V8 engine – the raw power of the American small-block
Under the front hood beats the legendary Chevrolet small-block 5.7L V8. This engine is renowned for its reliability, simple construction, and wide availability of performance upgrades. In its period tuning, it delivered energetic power delivery, strong torque across the rev range, and a characteristic deep sound no collector of American classics could mistake.
The Corvette C3 was highly advanced for its time. It uses independent suspension on all four wheels, a rarity among American sports cars of the 1960s.
