Dodge Durango GT Premium AWD HEMI V8. The Tow N Go Performance Package represents a direct reference to the original SRT performance models. The key transformation lies in the chassis architecture and drivetrain configuration:
- The model features Bilstein adaptive dampers that automatically adjust damping force in real time according to driving conditions and vehicle load, improving control at higher speeds and when towing without compromising ride comfort. Compared to the standard setup, the chassis uses stiffer springs and sport-tuned stabilizer bars, enhancing lateral stability and cornering precision.
- The adaptive sport suspension operates in conjunction with the advanced Quadra-Trac Active On-Demand 4WD This is a fully automatic adaptive all-wheel-drive system with faster and more targeted response than conventional AWD. It delivers instant torque distribution, prioritizes the rear axle (traditional RWD character), and transfers power to the front wheels in real time when rear-wheel slip is detected. The chassis also features a rear load-leveling system that maintains optimal ride height under heavy load or while towing.
- The sporty character of the chassis is further emphasized by an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential (eLSD), which actively distributes torque between the left and right rear wheels based on current traction and driving conditions.
- Vehicle performance and towing capability are managed by high-performance ventilated Brembo brakes, with 6-piston front calipers and 380 mm discs, and 4-piston rear calipers with 350 mm discs.
- Performance Steering delivers a firmer steering setup with a quicker ratio, providing higher precision and improved feedback during dynamic driving.
The model is powered by the naturally aspirated 5.7 HEMI V8 engine producing 360 HP and a maximum torque output of 529 Nm at 4,250 rpm. This legendary powerplant combines high output with the unmistakable muscular sound of American V8 engines. Thanks to modern valve control and optimized combustion, it delivers strong acceleration across the entire rev range while maintaining smooth and refined operation in everyday driving. Power is transmitted via the ZF 8HP70 / TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox provides adaptive shifting based on the driver’s current driving style, independent of the selected drive mode. Adaptation takes place continuously but within the boundaries of the selected mode. For example, calm driving in Sport mode will soften responses while preserving a sporty shift character. Conversely, dynamic driving in Normal mode will result in later and more frequent shifts, without the full aggression of Sport mode. As standard, the vehicle offers multiple drive modes allowing the driver to tailor the vehicle’s behavior to conditions or personal driving style:
- Normal – default comfort mode for everyday driving, balancing engine output, transmission shifts, throttle response, and stability for smooth and predictable handling.
- Sport – emphasizes dynamic performance with sharper throttle response, later upshifts at higher revs, quicker steering response, and an overall sportier character.
- Tow – optimizes transmission, engine, and power distribution for towing, increasing traction and directional stability while maintaining consistent pulling force under load.
- Snow – adjusts traction control and engine response for low-grip conditions, improving launch and stability on snow or wet surfaces.
- Track (Tow N Go) – activates the most aggressive throttle response, fastest shift strategy, sport AWD calibration with increased rear torque bias, and the firmest suspension setting. Intended for dynamic driving on dry surfaces.
- Eco / Valet – performance-limiting modes. Valet mode is designed for handing over the vehicle to third parties such as parking attendants, hotel staff, or service technicians.
The interior offers a spacious 7-seat layout with premium perforated leather seats, accented by subtle red stitching and Dodge logos. The front seats are electrically adjustable in 10 directions, with memory function for the driver. The first row also features seat heating and ventilation. The second row is heated and foldable for easy access to the third row. Comfort is ensured by three-zone automatic climate control and an electric sunroof. The driver benefits from a heated sport leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, and a power-adjustable steering column in two axes. The cabin is complemented by an Harman/Kardon audio system with 19 speakers and 825 W output.
The Uconnect 5 infotainment system provides control of comfort, multimedia, and performance functions, including dynamic driving data via the Performance Pages display. This interface delivers real-time diagnostic information focused on engine performance, driving dynamics, g-forces, acceleration measurement, and fluid temperatures and pressures. Drivers can view live power and torque curves, acceleration g-loads, reaction time, and 0–100 km/h sprint times. Uconnect 5 supports up to five individual user profiles, each storing personalized settings for climate, default drive mode, lighting, safety systems, phone pairing, audio preferences, radio stations, and home screen layout.
The GT Premium model features SmartBeam LED headlights with automatic high/low beam switching based on traffic and lighting conditions, LED daytime running lights, and an eye-catching full-width LED rear light panel. Additional comfort features include keyless entry and start, power tailgate, and remote engine start, allowing the vehicle to be pre-heated in winter or cooled in summer. The vehicle offers a full suite of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with active braking, blind-spot monitoring optimized for towing (Tow N Go), and rear cross-traffic alert. Front and rear parking sensors are combined with a rear-view camera.
For family travel, the vehicle provides discreet roof rails with integrated crossbars and a generous luggage compartment. With all seats occupied, cargo capacity is 487 liters; with the third row folded, 1,226 liters; and with both second and third rows folded, an impressive 2,409 liters. Despite its SUV classification, the vehicle retains a sporty and dynamic appearance, further enhanced by the optional Blacktop Package, featuring black dual exhaust tips and massive 20×10” Satin Carbon aluminum wheels fitted with 295/45 ZR20 tires (Tow N Go).
