Car introduction
The all-new Subaru Outback Premier XT 2026 has a new turbo engine SUBARU BOXER with 2.4L and 260 HP and a powerful torque of 376 Nm. The vehicle features Subaru’s signature permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, ensuring confidence and stability on slippery or uneven surfaces. It is paired with a Lineartronic® CVT transmission with an available manual mode operated via steering-wheel paddle shifters. Thanks to an impressive ground clearance of approx. 22 cm (8.7 inches), the Outback offers solid off-road capability for a family-oriented SUV—ideal for light off-roading, outdoor trips, uneven roads, or winter driving. In terms of towing capability, the Outback Premier XT can pull 1.588 kg (3 500 lb), making it suitable for small boats, light cargo, or a quad trailer.
The vehicle also offers a dedicated off-road mode called X-MODE, which to an extent simulates a traditional 4×4 system with a locking differential. When activated, throttle response and engine behavior are optimized, providing softer and smoother acceleration to minimize wheel slip. The transmission holds ratios that allow higher torque delivery at lower speeds. All-Wheel Drive (AWD) receives increased priority, distributing torque between the front and rear axles to maximize traction. Electronic stability and traction systems react more sensitively, instantly braking slipping wheels—functioning similarly to a limited-slip differential. When descending a steep slope, X-MODE automatically engages Hill Descent Control for controlled downhill driving.
The interior of the Outback Premier XT is significantly modernized with a focus on comfort and practicality. The dashboard and cockpit have been redesigned, now featuring a new horizontal 12.1″ high-resolution infotainment LCD display, replacing the previous layout. In addition, a 12.3″ fully digital instrument cluster offers customizable layouts tailored to driver preferences. The infotainment system supports extensive wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Both USB-A and USB-C ports are available for charging and device integration.
The Premier XT version offers a premium leather interior with fine perforated Nappa leather. The front seats are power adjustable in 12 resp. 8 directions (driver/passanger), heated and additionally ventilated. The interior of the car provides the highest comfort on long journeys. The driver’s seat offers a memory option including the position of the door mirrors and possibility manual adjustment of the cushion length. The sporty premium leather multifunction steering wheel fits comfortably in hand and includes heating for cold-weather driving. Instead of a traditional rearview mirror, the vehicle uses a compact LCD display showing a live feed from the rear camera. Keyless entry and push-button start come standard, and the tailgate is power-operated. The Premier XT trim is also equipped with a power sunroof. Audio performance is handled by a premium Harman/Kardon system with 12 Green Edge speakers, Clari-Fi technology, and a total output of 576W.
The Outback Premier XT comes equipped with Subaru’s advanced EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, pre-collision braking and front pre-collision braking as well an array of additional safety and driver-assistance features. The newly available Emergency Stop Assist with Safe Lane Selection can automatically steer the vehicle toward the shoulder, bring it to a stop, and activate hazard lights in situations where the driver becomes incapacitated. Another highly practical feature is the 360° Surround View Camera System, which greatly improves maneuvering, parking, and reversing in tight spaces. The power-operated, heated side mirrors feature auto-folding capability and auto-dimming, enhancing comfort during night driving. The windshield wipers include a rain sensor.
The design of the Outback has undergone a substantial evolution. New, more expressive lines and a modernized exterior give the vehicle a more robust and rugged character, ideal for customers seeking an unconventional yet practical compact SUV. The vehicle rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with a mixed finish combining gloss black and polished aluminum. The Outback retains its iconic massive roof rails, dual-tip exhaust and now offers LED headlights with steering-responsive cornering for improved nighttime visibility.
