The new Suzuki Jimny 3D GL 1.5 VVT 4AT represents the latest generation of an understated yet uncompromising off-roader. The Jimny demonstrates its off-road capabilities where other SUVs reach their limits. The vehicle has earned its place among the icons of compact off-road vehicles. It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5 VVT K15B four-cylinder engine producing 100 HP at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, providing comfort during everyday driving while retaining full off-road capability, including a low-range transfer case.

The foundation of the Jimny is a ladder frame, rigid front and rear axles, and coil springs – a construction typical of classic off-road vehicles. The ALLGRIP PRO 4×4 system offers 2H, 4H and 4L modes, with the 4L mode using a 2.644:1 low-range reduction ratio. Combined with first gear of the automatic transmission and the final drive ratio, this results in an overall ratio of approximately 32.7:1 in 4L, allowing extremely slow and precisely controlled movement over challenging terrain. The system also includes Brake LSD Traction Control, which applies the brakes to a spinning wheel to help transfer drive torque to the wheels with better traction.

The Jimny’s off-road capabilities are further enhanced by its compact dimensions and, above all, its excellent underbody geometry. The Jimny offers 210 mm of ground clearance, a 37° approach angle and a 28° breakover angle, while its short 2,250 mm wheelbase helps it negotiate changes in terrain and significantly reduces the risk of grounding the underside of the vehicle. Regional specifications also quote a departure angle of up to 49°, a minimum turning radius of 4.9 m and a 40-litre fuel tank. The kerb weight of the automatic version is 1,110 kg, while the maximum technically permissible gross vehicle weight is 1,435 kg. The fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny is reported by unofficial sources to have a fording depth of approximately 300 mm.

The GL specification also includes important safety and driving assistance systems, including ESP, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Brake LSD Traction Control, Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control. The equipment also includes two airbags for the driver and front passenger, ISOFIX and an immobiliser. Inside, you will find manual air conditioning, electrically operated windows, central locking with remote control, fabric upholstery, a three-spoke leather steering wheel with audio system and hands-free controls, a tachometer and a 12V power socket. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing compatible navigation apps, music and podcasts, messages and hands-free phone calls to be accessed through the vehicle’s display. The system also supports Bluetooth for wireless music playback and hands-free calls.

The exterior retains the Jimny’s distinctive character, with its boxy body, short overhangs and spare wheel mounted on the rear door. The GL specification includes 15-inch alloy wheels with 195/80 R15 tyres, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, halogen headlights, front fog lights, a black radiator grille, and black exterior door handles and mirror caps. The result is a highly manoeuvrable three-door compact off-roader with a low kerb weight of 1,110 kg, a classic ladder-frame construction, rigid axles, an automatic transmission and a fully capable ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system with low-range gearing, giving it the genuine off-road capabilities that have become synonymous with the legendary Suzuki Jimny T1 Export.
