The new RAM 1500 SRT TRX 2027 uses a redesigned version of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8, increasing output to 777 HP and torque to 922 Nm compared with the previous-generation TRX. Extreme acceleration from 0–100 km/h takes just 3.5 seconds. This is far more than a software update – the engine has received a number of hardware upgrades and also incorporates proven components from higher-output Hellcat engines. To support higher engine speeds, valvetrain components from the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye have been adopted, allowing the maximum engine speed to be increased to approximately 6,500 rpm. The engine and fuel system calibration have also been revised. Fuel pressure has increased from approximately 73 to 102 psi. The intake and supercharging system has also been significantly redesigned. The new TRX uses a dual-path intake system that draws air from both the front grille and the hood scoop. This allows the engine to receive a greater volume of air, while reducing intake restriction by approximately 18% and increasing airflow by 13%. The 2.4-liter Twin-Screw supercharger has also been upgraded and now generates higher boost pressure – approximately 12 psi compared with the previous 10 psi. The combination of improved airflow, increased boost pressure and revised engine management enables output to be increased to 777 HP while retaining the distinctive character of the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8.
The new model features the second generation of Bilstein Black Hawk e² adaptive dampers, which continuously adjust damping characteristics according to vehicle speed, steering input, braking, acceleration and vehicle movement. The dampers use two electronically controlled valves, external nitrogen reservoirs and a hydraulic system designed to help prevent harsh bottoming under maximum suspension compression. The revised system provides more pronounced differentiation between the individual drive modes. It delivers greater comfort on the road while providing increased stability during landings after jumps. The TRX still offers 13 inches of front and up to 14 inches of rear wheel travel, but the newly calibrated dampers are better able to handle severe impacts. The dampers work in conjunction with the Ram Active Terrain Dynamics system, which integrates suspension control with the drivetrain and drive modes. The electronic control system can, for example, detect when the vehicle becomes airborne after a jump and adjust the damper settings to provide a safer and more controlled landing.
The SRT TRX model uses intelligent 4WD with electronic control of torque distribution between the front and rear axles. The vehicle frame is constructed from 98% steel, providing excellent stability and torsional rigidity. Engine power is transferred through an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a robust two-speed transfer case offering 4WD Auto, 4WD High and 4WD Low modes, as well as an electronically locking rear differential. The drivetrain offers up to nine drive modes: Auto, Sport, Baja, Tow, Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock, Valet and Custom, which adjust engine response, transmission behavior, traction control and suspension settings according to driving conditions. Reinforced axles and the electronically controlled rear differential ensure effective transfer of the engine’s output to the wheels.
- Baja – maximum power and rapid responses for high-speed driving in the desert and on loose surfaces.
- Rock – precise power delivery and maximum traction for slow-speed driving over rocky and technically demanding terrain.
- Mud/Sand – optimized engine output, transmission behavior and traction control for deep sand, mud and loose surfaces.
- Sport – sharper engine and transmission responses combined with a firmer suspension setup for dynamic road driving.
- Snow – smoother engine and transmission responses with more sensitive traction control for safer driving on snow and slippery surfaces.
The range-topping TRX provides comprehensive telemetry through Performance Pages. Two visual display modes are available:
- Dyno/Engine, which displays vehicle performance data such as acceleration, speed, engine rpm, power, torque and G-forces
- Vehicle Dynamics, which focuses on the vehicle’s real-time behavior – displaying steering wheel and wheel angle, longitudinal and lateral G-forces, 4WD status, selected gear and other vehicle dynamics and chassis data.
Interior TRX combines the truck’s performance-oriented character with perforated leather upholstery and a high level of comfort. The front sport seats are 12-way power adjustable and feature power lumbar support, driver memory settings, heating, ventilation and a new massage function for both the driver and front passenger. Available features include a heated leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, power-adjustable pedals and heated rear seats. The cabin features dual-zone automatic climate control, multiple USB ports, wireless charging for two smartphones, practical storage compartments and a 115V power outlet.
The Uconnect 5 features a 14.5-inch touchscreen display with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as vehicle function controls. Important functions such as climate control and audio volume can still be operated using conventional physical controls. The 360° camera system provides a detailed view around the vehicle and makes parking and trailer maneuvering easier. The audio system is supplied by Harman Kardon with 19 speakers, a subwoofer and an amplifier with Logic 7 providing immersive surround sound. The equipment is complemented by a 10-inch Head-Up Display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, digital rear-view mirror, panoramic sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, Keyless Go and remote start.
The exterior features a Crew Cab configuration with increased passenger space and a 5.7-foot cargo bed. The cargo bed itself measures 124 cm in width and 171.2 cm in length. Four adjustable tie-down hooks along the sides of the cargo bed and integrated LED bed lighting are also provided, making it easier to secure and handle cargo even after dark. For easier loading and unloading or getting into the cabin, side and rear steps are available. Exterior illumination is provided by LED headlights with Automatic High-Beam Control, which automatically switches between high and low beams depending on traffic conditions. The vehicle also features auto-dimming rear-view mirrors and heated, power-adjustable and power-folding exterior mirrors. Driver-assistance features on the RAM 1500 SRT TRX 2027 primarily include Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and front and rear parking sensors with a 360° camera system.
